What are morphemes and phonemes

Phonemes
Phonemes are the individual sounds (the smallest units of sound) in a language.

To study pronunciation, you should start with the phonemes, once you can pronounce the phonemes correctly you can pronounce all the words correctly.

Graphemes
Graphemes are the symbols in the International phonetic alphabet (the IPA) that each represent one, and only one, individual sound. The IPA is a wonderful tool for you to use, I would suggest it as the most important, it is used in all languages and every dictionary provides a phonetic spelling, using the graphemes of the IPA.

Why should you know phonemes and graphemes?
English has 44 phonemes and 44 graphemes, but only 26 letters. Pronunciation in English is extremely challenging without knowing the IPA, even if you are a native. Therefore, knowing the graphemes (symbols) of the IPA, and the individual phonemes (sounds) that the IPA represents can help you greatly.
