IELTS Speaking Simulation: Module 20

  • This is a mock IELTS speaking exam.

  • The speaking section of the exam contains three parts, as organized below.

  • The whole speaking exam will last approximately 11-14 minutes​.

TIP: When practicing speaking alone, speak out loud. You can also have a friend work with you and ask you these questions to make it feel more like a real exam.

Part One

Part one of the IELTS test is a series of "introduction questions" and usually lasts about 4 minutes. It's best to answer the questions in roughly 3 sentences.

Avoid 1 word or one sentence answers!

  1. Can you find food from many different countries where you live? [Why/Why not?]

  2. How often do you eat typical food from other countries? [Why/Why not?]

  3. Have you ever tried making food from another country? [Why/Why not?]

  4. What food from your country would you recommend to people from other countries? [Why?]

Describe a law that was introduced in your country and that you thought was a very good idea.

You should say:

  • what the law was

  • who introduced it

  • when and why it was introduced

and explain why you thought this law was such a good idea.

  1. What kinds of rules are common in a school?

  2. How important is it to have rules in a school?

  3. What do you recommend should happen if children break school rules?

  4. Can you suggest why many students decide to study law at university?

  5. What are the key personal qualities needed to be a successful lawyer?

  6. Do you agree that working in the legal profession is very stressful?
