IELTS Speaking Simulation: Module 8

  • This is a mock IELTS speaking exam.

  • The speaking section of the exam contains three parts, as organized below.

  • The whole speaking exam will last approximately 11-14 minutes​.

TIP: When practicing speaking alone, speak out loud. You can also have a friend work with you and ask you these questions to make it feel more like a real exam.

Part One

Part one of the IELTS test is a series of "introduction questions" and usually lasts about 4 minutes. It's best to answer the questions in roughly 3 sentences.

Avoid 1 word or one sentence answers!

  1. Do you like watching TV?

  2. How often do you watch TV?

  3. What kind of TV programmes do you like to watch?

  4. What are the most popular TV shows in your country?

  5. Has the internet affected your viewing habits?

  6. Have you travelled a lot by plane?

  7. Why do you think some people enjoy travelling by plane?

  8. Would you like to live near an airport?

  9. In the future, do you think that you will travel by plane more often?

Describe a person from your country who has won a prize, award, or medal.

You should say:

  • who is this person

  • which prize, award, or medal they recieved

  • what they did to win this

And explain whether you think it was right that this person recieved this prize, award, or medal.

  1. What types of school prizes do children in your country recieve?

  2. What do you think are the advantages of rewarding schoolchildren for good work?

  3. Do you agree that it's more important for children to recieve rewards from their parents than from teachers?

  4. Do you think that some sportspeople are paid too much?

  5. Should everyone on a team get the same prize money when they win?

  6. Do you agree with the view that, in sport, taking part is more important than winning?
