TIP: When practicing speaking alone, speak out loud. You can also have a friend work with you and ask you these questions to make it feel more like a real exam.
Part One
Part one of the IELTS test is a series of "introduction questions" and usually lasts about 4 minutes. It's best to answer the questions in roughly 3 sentences.
Avoid 1 word or one sentence answers!
What can you remember about the house you grew up in?
What do you like and dislike about your current home?
What would your dream house be like?
When was the last time you bought a gift for someone?
Do you prefer giving or receiving gifts?
What's the best gift you've ever received?
On what occassions do people give gifts in your country?
Describe an important decision that you have made.
You should say:
What the decision was
When you made it
What the results of the decision were
And explain why it was an important decision for you.
Why do some people find it hard to make decisions?
How important is it to get advice from other people when making decisions?
Why is it sometimes difficult to accept advice?
What are some of the most important decisions young people have to make?
Do you agree that parents should make important decisions for their children?
Is it better to make a decision thinking about what you want or thinking about what other people want?
